DESCRIPTION:The Malaysian Psychiatric Association (MPA) extends its heartfelt condolences to the family\, loved ones\, friends\, colleagues\, and all whose lives were touched by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr M. Mahadevan. \nTan Sri Dr Mahadevan was a pioneer of psychiatry in Malaysia and a towering figure in the development of mental health services in our country. As the former Government Chief Psychiatrist and founder of the Malaysian Psychiatric Association\, he helped shape psychiatric care for generations of Malaysians through his vision\, leadership\, and dedication. \nHe played a pivotal role in modernising mental health services and championing rehabilitation-oriented approaches to care\, advancing the dignity\, recovery\, and well-being of persons living with mental illness. Beyond psychiatry\, he was internationally recognised for his contributions to clinical hypnosis\, psychosomatic medicine\, teaching\, research\, and mentorship. The Mahadevan Fellowship at Harvard stands as a lasting testament to his impact on the field and his commitment to nurturing future generations of mental health professionals. \nHis wisdom\, guidance\, and pioneering spirit have left an enduring legacy that will continue to inspire psychiatrists\, educators\, researchers\, and trainees for years to come. \nOn behalf of the Malaysian Psychiatric Association\, we express our profound gratitude for his immense contributions to psychiatry\, mental health\, and the nation. \nMay he rest in peace. \nMalaysian Psychiatric Association
