4th Sabah Mental Health Conference – Final Announcement
Date: 25 April 2008
Dear Colleagues and Friends, I would like to extend to you a warm invitation to the 4th Sabah Mental Health Conference in Kota Kinabalu from 22nd to 24th May 2008. Sabah, The Land Below the Wind located in North Borneo, is widely recognized as one of the most beautiful places to visit in the world, and heir and protagonist of a rich and fascinating cultural and natural heritage. Kota Kinabalu, the capital city will be a most auspicious setting for a magnificent mental health conference. Facing Challenges Changing Perceptions is the theme of the 4th Sabah Mental Health Conference held here. Mental health care is evolving and facing continuous challenges due to a combination of factors eg. recognition of disease burden, lack of resources, and increasing demands from service users and stigma associated with mental health and psychiatry. On the hand there has also been tremendous advancements in the understanding of psychiatric disorders and its treatment strategies. It is with this intention in mind that the above theme is chosen. With this special encounter, where science and humanism in articulation will be highlighted, where new psychiatric findings and experiences will be discussed, and where current partnership is to be strengthened and new ones will be forged, I hope we can work toward facing challenges and changing perceptions in psychiatry and mental health. Looking forward to greeting you in Kota Kinabalu in May 2008! Sincerely, Dr. Hj Mohd Daud Dalip Organising Chairman 4th Sabah Mental Health Conference mdalip157@gmail.com For further information, please download the below documents…
